Kerala PSC Appointment Step by Step Process for New Aspirants



Kerala PSC recruiting thousands of new candidates for various government jobs. Many new KPSC aspirants have no clear idea about the entire procedure of KPSC appointment from notification to appointment. When PSC Publish New Notifications:

Kerala PSC publishes notification for various posts when each department reports the vacancies to the commission. It will be in the absence of an existing rank list of those posts. But, in the case of Lower Division Clerk, Assistant Surgeon, Last Grade Servants, Secretariat Assistant and Police Constable PSC would notify even there is a rank list.

Age Limit and Eligibility to Apply for KPSC Examinations:
  • The common age limit to write the PSC tests in Kerala is 18- 36. But reserved categories will get relaxation on age. 
  • The qualification will consider as on the January first of the year in which the notification has been published. The candidates should pass the qualifying test within the notification date.

Kerala PSC Written/Practical Test and Interview Details:

In the first stage PSC decides to conduct suitable test - the written/ practical/ interview.
Depending on the number of applicants PSC commonly conducts an OMR test firstly. 

Difference Between Kerala PSC Rank List, Probability List, Short List and Supplementary List:
  • Probability list is the list of candidates who scored a mark above the cut off mark which is decide by PSC (after adding grace mark also) for making rank list.
  • Short list will prepare for conducting interview. 
  • Rank list will publish after the interview for short listed candidates or after the certificate verification of the candidates in the probability list. Rank lists will get duration of 3 years. It may be extend to 4 and 1/2 years by the request of government. 
  • Supplementary list will prepare by including reserved candidates who got particular mark in the exam. The number of candidates in this list will be proportional to the number of main list candidates. 


Kerala PSC Rotation Chart for Appointment:

Rotation chart reveals an order for the appointment of general candidates and reserved candidates from each category (like SC, ST, Ezhava, OBC, Muslim, LC, AI....). The 50% of the vacancies is for general candidates and other 50% is for reserved candidates. The appointment is as per the rotation chart. There is separate rotation charts for last grade rank list and other lists. 

Advice Memo and Appointment Letter from Kerala PSC:
  • When the turn of the candidate reaches, PSC will advise him to the particular department for his appointment. 
  • The department authority will send appointment letter within 3 months (maximum time). Candidate can join as soon as possible for his job.
